Ben's WX Summary
- Updated: Monday @ 10:37pm
Looking at quiet weather across Southern California through the middle of the week with dry conditions and above normal temperatures. Expect mostly sunny skies through Tuesday as reach the upper 50s, west winds returning 5-15 mph during the afternoon, with little change on Wednesday. Forecast models offer a variety of solutions later this week in handling a low-pressure system off the California Coast. The NAM depicts a more progressive upper-level trough digging through the area Thursday into Friday with a weakening cold front bringing widespread light precipitation across SoCal. While the Euro develops a more closed system targeting Northern Baja/San Diego, which would result in better rainfall chances for coastal OC and south in San Diego, with wrap around moisture bringing light precipitation to the mountains. While the GFS offers up a cutoff low, and dig it even further south over Baja, with lesser precip. amounts for our area, if at all. Currently, we're somewhere in the middle with the ECMWF bringing in gusty west winds and clouds on Thursday and Friday with a chance of showers. Rainfall totals generally look less than about a quarter of an inch, with more possible to our south. As far as prospects for snowfall, confidence remains low for much, if any, as the snow level will likely remain above 8,000 feet. Highs will drop back into the 40s by the end of the week with overnight lows in the upper 20s and 30s. At this time, expect near normal temperatures and dry weather over the weekend, with a better chance at more appreciable precipitation sometime next week!
